My name is Nikki R. Byrom, and I am the intuitive creator behind K The Other Way. When I was in middle school, I was obsessed with being ambidextrous and learning how to write letters backward. I would practice in the margins of my class notes, next to my doodles. Eventually, I would write my whole first name backward, but after trying it on one too many homework assignments, I relented and kept only the two k's reversed. After that too was deemed unacceptable, I decided to use the fancified version of my name with the second k, turned (you guessed it) the other way, as my signature in letters to my closest friends.
Five years ago, I started painting semi professionally. I'm not formally trained in art, but I'd been doing commissions for friends and creating pieces for my own home as a hobby. In 2019, I had my first solo gallery show, Muse, and soon left my career to pursue art and entrepreneurship full time. It was the best decision I've ever made.
I love what I do. To me there’s nothing more invigorating than taking a blank canvas of any type and putting my mark on it, or creating something from a client’s imagination. My mission is to raise the vibration of the collective one brush stroke at a time. I do this by allowing my creativity full expression. The result is unique, culturally relevant, empowering, functional art.
